Plan for about 20 hours of story

If you mainly follow the story, start with about 20 hours. VGC’s 2026-09-03 guide lists 20 hours for the main story, 25 on average, 33 for all collectibles in one run and over 60 across extra difficulties or playthroughs. GamesRadar’s reviewer spent 28 hours with some side content; Tom’s Guide also describes the main story as roughly 20 hours.

What each estimate covers

Reported timeScope
About 20 hoursA story-focused run
25 hoursVGC’s average run
28 hoursGamesRadar reviewer’s run with some side content
33 hoursVGC’s all-collectibles single run
60+ hoursBroader completion across extra difficulties or multiple runs

These are not CAPCOM guarantees. Difficulty, exploring Kyoto, side quests, collectibles and boss retries all affect your total.

Fitting it into your schedule

Budget 20–25 hours if time is limited. Allow over 30 hours if you enjoy collecting, side quests and higher difficulties, or over 60 for extensive completion and extra runs. A reviewer’s time is a reference point, not a promise for your playthrough.

How estimates will be updated

Only dated reports with a clear definition of the run and an accessible source will be added. New figures must distinguish story, average, all-collectibles and multiple-playthrough estimates.
